— Basic First Aid
— Child behavior
— Age-appropriate activities
— Emergency protocols
— Leadership
— Growing your business

Lifeguard Certification

Train to be a lifeguard! Learn lifesaving skills to help people stay safe in, on, and around the water. You must be 15 years old by the final day of class to enroll.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive two certifications: Lifeguarding Skills and First Aid/CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Additional modules, such as Waterfront skills to lifeguard natural bodies of water, may be available and require a conversation with the instructor.

This is a blended learning class — you will have 7-10 hours of course work (which your instructor will grant access to) that must be completed prior to the start of the class. To successfully complete the course, participants are expected to be strong swimmers, mature and professional, and attend all class sessions.

Date + Time:
December 1, 8, and 15 from 9:00am-5:00pm

Cost: Member $330 / Non-Member $448

Adult + Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED

The American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED program is designed to train rescuers to respond to medical emergencies in adults, children, and infants until more advanced medical personnel take over. Participants will be trained to recognize breathing and cardiac emergencies, and to respond to such emergencies by performing CPR, using an AED, and providing any other appropriate care until medical personnel arrive. Participants will learn the proper response to sudden illnesses such as heart attack, stroke, and seizures. This training also includes a foundation of first aid for other injuries such as burns and external bleeding. You will receive your First Aid Adult, Child, and Infant CPR and AED certifications.

This is a blended learning course — there is a roughly 3-hour online training to be completed before the course. Participants must be 15 years old by the final day of class.

Date + Time:
December 15, 9:00am-12:00pm

Cost: Member $110 / Non-Member $179

Lifeguard Recertification

For individuals who have previously completed the full lifeguard training successfully. Refresh your lifeguarding knowledge and skills, and ensure your certification stays up to date. Attendees must have both American Red Cross Lifeguarding Skills and CPR/First Aid for the Professional Rescuer certifications, which have not expired for more than 30 days. If your certifications have expired for more than 30 days, you’ll need to take the full course again in order to renew your certification. There is no online pre-course work.

Lifeguard Instructor Certification

This class is for current lifeguards who are interested in gaining their Lifeguard Instructor certification. You must hold a current lifeguard certification (must be active for at least one year) and you must be 17 years old. This is a blended learning class, so you will have 3-4 hours of online course work that MUST be completed prior to the start of the class. Upon registering you will receive an email from the instructor, Eli, with all needed details regarding class.

In addition to the online pre course work, there is an in-water skills pre course session at the beginning of day 1. This skills session is the same as the pre course session for the Lifeguarding course: a 300-500 yard swim and a timed event using a 10 pound brick.

Stop the Bleed Training

In an emergency situation, we all have the ability to potentially save a life. No matter how rapid the arrival of emergency responders, bystanders will always be the first on the scene. STOP THE BLEED (www.bleedingcontrol.org) is a national campaign started by the White House to address the most common cause of preventable trauma death in the US: uncontrolled bleeding.

This one hour class, taught by our partners at UVMMC, helps to ensure our community is knowledgeable in the use of compression or a tourniquet to stop uncontrolled bleeding.

Training is FREE, and consists of an interactive presentation followed by an in-person opportunity for discussion and hands-on skills station.
