Bryce, Krysta and Ember’s Story

“I am Y” tells the stories of Y members and staff and the transformative power of community. This is the Youngquist family’s story:

Bryce: “The Y is so much more than just a gym. It’s community. You see the work-out fanatic and you see the 85-year-old grandmother. Seeing everyone exercise together is pretty inspiring. In the past we did Crossfit, but with graduate school and parenthood, it was no longer financially accessible. We joined the Y, and today we’re in the best shape of our lives.”

Krysta: “It’s been life-giving. This was one of the first places that I started meeting people and making friends in Burlington. After we moved in, the next day I came here. I knew that I would have access to great people and resources in a good community.

“Being a stay-at-home mom, I can come here and work out and our daughter can be around other kiddos several times a week through drop-in child care. I get to leave the house and do things I love, and I know she loves it, too. Do you get excited when Mommy tells you we’re coming to the gym?”

Ember: “Yes!”

Bryce: “When we drop her off here, she is still connected to us. Sometimes she’ll come roll out with us. She’ll stretch, do little exercises. As a family, we’re helping our daughter build a foundation for a healthy lifestyle.”

The Y is here for Bryce, Krysta, and Ember, and we are here for you. Join us at the new Y, opening January 2020.
