Young Rembrandts Drawing Class- Pastel Drawing Workshop

Explore multicultural art in our Worldly Artistic Design Pastels workshop. We begin with Mexico as we draw colorful doorways. Next, we journey to Africa and explore the design of African crafts. Then we’ll move on to Paisley patterns, an ancient design embraced by many cultures. Asian paper lanterns will shed light on the Far Eastern design styles. Our travels end in Russia as we illustrate the onion dome. These classes will be mess fun, so dress appropriately.

Grades: 5-8

Flip Dance and Circus

Tumble, dance, juggle and spin! This is a great, non-competitive class for boys and girls of all abilities. Students will learn basic mat skills and learn proper from for cartwheels, rolls, jumps, and leaps. Students will also have fun learning circus arts like spinning plates, juggling carves, and balancing feathers. At the end of the session, students will perform a GymShow for families.

Grades: 5-8

Cheer Team

Cheer and tumble! Great team experience! No Stunting! Get Strong!

What can your body do? How strong can you get? This exciting program promotes fun, self-awareness, and community involvement! Cheer Team participants will learn dance, poise, arm motions, jumps, chants, cheers and mat skills. No stunts. They will learn of perfect round-offs, all kinds of cartwheels, and flexibility! They will also learn teamwork by forming groups to develop cheers. All moves are appropriate, and cheers are sharp looking, yet easy to learn.

Students will practice each week and will perform at public events such as area sporting events, games, and more! We will get to be spooky cheerleaders at the GLOW RUN in October! Outreach to other is an important part of our work and we will perform at nursing homes around the holidays. We will also perform at the Jingle Bell Express! Do you have an idea for an event? Let us know!

Pom-Poms are available for use during the games and events. There will be a team banquet at the end of the session.

Ages: Cheer team is open to children in surrounding towns, 5-11 years old

When: Thursdays until December 14 (Session 2 starts in January, 2018)

Time: 6:15-7:30pm

Where: Founders Memorial School at the gym in Essex

Cost: $ pro rated

Requirements: Parents/Guardians will need to complete and sign a waiver prior to the start of class. Participants will need to provide their own black bike shorts, black long sleeve shirt, white sneakers and white socks. Uniforms can be purchased (but not required) for $39 which includes skirt, shell, and bow. We will measure for uniforms on the first night.
