UVM Medical Center Child Care
For more than 20 years, the Y’s UVM Medical Center Child Care program has served UVM Medical Center families. The program is for children ages eight weeks to five years old and is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and received 5 Stars on the State of Vermont Quality Rating and Improvement Scale.
This program operates year round and works hard to meet the demanding schedules of hospital employees. Our licensed teachers and tenured staff nurture children and build relationships that last for decades.
The program is divided into six classrooms: infants, one year olds, toddlers, older toddlers and two classes of multi-aged 3-5 year olds. We practice an emergent curriculum that focuses on the interests and developmental levels of the children. Through authentic learning experiences, all children gain knowledge of the world around them and build the skills necessary for more formal educational settings.
Art, science, music, mathematics, literacy and physical fitness is imbedded in daily activities that engage children and build a life-long love of learning. Our eldest children are bussed to our downtown Y for weekly swim lessons as well.
