Please take a look at these engaging afterschool opportunities. Your child does not need to be enrolled in the Y’s afterschool program to enroll in these activities.

Flip, Dance and Circus

SURPRISE FUN! This fun session will get creative, with kids learning 8-counts for various dance activities and games. We’ll choreograph a dance to popular, appropriate music while we learn to follow counts and patterns, work on basic tumble and circus mat skills and learn proper form for balancing, cartwheels, jumps, rolls, leaps and more! Kids will receive special SURPRISE prop to take home!!

When: Tuesdays, March 26-April 16, 1:45 – 4:00pm

Where: 1:45-2:15pm in Music Room, 2:15-3:30pm in the gym, 3:30-4:00pm back to music room

Dino Club

Join Erin Burgess in the land of dinosaurs! Study the characteristics of some and learn how to classify others. Student will discover how they lived and how they went extinct through projects and crafts. Come learn about the Mesozoic age!

When: Fridays, March 29-April 19

Where: Mrs Yandell’s classroom, Room 5 in C-wing

Superhero Tennis

In this exciting new class, each Junior Hero will develop their special superhero power, signature pose and hone their superhero skills while learning tennis drills and strengthening their muscles!  We’ll learn how to save Metropolis from the evil Dr. Raquet! Your Superhero will practice getting the Kryptonite over the wall, gently hitting the poison blobs to a target, learning how to run a rescue operation!  We will learn about the helpful behaviors and healthy habits needed to be a Superhero!  We’ll spider over obstacles, play fun games to challenge reflexes, and learn to work individually and in teams.  We’ll use props such as racquets, nets, mats, balls, water noodles and more to learn the skills necessary to save the city!  This non-competitive class is for both boys and girls! There will be a graduation ceremony and family fun time on the last day!  (Please send your child with a healthy snack, water bottle, and sneakers).

Cheer Team

Cheer and tumble!! Dance!! Great team experience!! No Stunting!! Get Strong!!
Welcome Spring! This session we’ll perform at sports events at St. Michael’s College, at the Burlington Waterfront for Kid’s Day and other great events! Lots of community building and team bonding! All events are family friendly and fun for all!

This exciting program stresses fun, self-awareness and community involvement! What can your body DO? How strong can we get? Participants in Cheer Team will learn dance, poise, arm motions, jumps, chants, cheers and some mat skills, all using 8-counts. Learn or perfect moves such as cartwheels/roundoffs, and work on flexibility! You will also learn teamwork, play games, and form groups to develop cheers and dances!  Practice is weekly. All moves are appropriate, and cheers/dances are sharp looking, yet easy to learn.

Outreach to others is an important part of our work, and we often perform for seniors and charity events. Do you have an idea for an event? Let us know!!

Uniforms can be purchased at a discount IF DESIRED for about $54 for the skirt, shell and bow. All kids will need black shirts/shorts, white socks/sneakers.  These can also be purchased with uniform packages with our discount pricing.
