For over 119 years, that’s what Camp Abnaki has been all about: fostering personal growth and independence in a safe environment on the shores of Lake Champlain in North Hero, VT.
Traditionally a boys’ resident camp, Abnaki has grown to include a day camp for boys—as well as a variety of co-ed specialty, vacation, and family camp programs that build healthy, confident, connected and secure children and teens.
Camp Abnaki is currently hiring a full-time Property Manager to oversee the maintenance, facilities and property grounds at camp. In this role, you will have direct oversight of building and maintenance repairs, security of camp grounds, construction and remodeling projects, equipment and vehicle safety and ongoing property landscaping.
This year-round position will require someone who is independent and self-motivated with a passion for building, construction and landscaping to live on camp property. With little on-sight supervision, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day maintenance at camp including surveying buildings and facilities for safety, maintaining the grounds including snow removal in the winter and landscaping, mowing and brush and debris removal in the spring, summer and fall, coordinate and supervise volunteer groups and provide management and guidance to the maintenance staff.
It is expected that this role will engage with campers and staff while participating and supporting camp culture. Additionally, in the off-season, this role will build relationships in the community and with nearby neighbors.
The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in a skill set of carpentry, general maintenance, plumbing/heating/electrical, property maintenance or management, landscaping or of a similar experience. Additionally, the ability to lead a group of campers, volunteers or staff members in a positive manner, while maintaining camp grounds, safety and maintenance and repair. This position requires a valid driver’s license at all times, along with CPR/AED and First Aid Certification within 30 days of employment.
