YMCA Child Care Programs Receive 5 STARS
The Greater Burlington YMCA Early Childhood Programs received five  STAR (Step Ahead Recognition Program) designation for quality in five areas as defined by the State of Vermont’s Child Development Division. The YMCA NAEYC accredited and state licensed child care centers demonstrated achievement in five areas: compliance with state regulations; staff qualifications and training; daily activities, interaction and overall support of children, families and community; assessment and planning; and strength of program’s operating policies and business practices.

Children from 29 different towns attend the Y’s child care programs in Chittenden and Franklin counties. The YMCA, a long time collaborator with schools, agencies, and the State, support families with a family-centered approach and provide tuition assistance that ensures that children from lower income households have access to Y child care programs.

“We have always been confident when we say we provide the best early education programs to the largest number of families in Vermont, and the 5 STAR designation is confirmation” explains Mary Burns, President & CEO of the Greater Burlington YMCA.

The seven programs receiving 5 STARS are the YMCA preschool and Kindergarten, YMCA Preschool at Chamberlain School, Fletcher Allen’s Y’s Time Children’s Center, Y’s Time Children’s Center in St. Albans, Y’s Time Preschool and Child Care Center, Y’s Time at the Congregational Church in Burlington and Y’s Time Infant and Toddler Center, St. Paul Street, Burlington.
