Participants, and March 24 for Public

Activities
Activities include sports, recreation games, outdoor
play, gym, arts and crafts and quiet activities.
Children also have the opportunity to swim at the YMCA
pool and at local beaches. Another dimension is provided
by visits from guest artists, instructors, and community
volunteers who share their special skills and talents
with the children.
The curriculum is determined by the camp location and
the campers’ ages, and the format is designed to give
each child plenty of “choice time”. Events vary
depending on the energy level of the group. A typical
day includes free play and group games (outside or
indoors); snacks (supplied by parents); lunch (provided
by parents); and “choice/option time”, during which
campers choose from three to four activities, such as
sports, arts and crafts, a mini field trip, and a quiet
activity.
One or more “curriculum extras” are included in each
session. These may include a “fun swim” at a local pool
or beach for campers at sites other than the Y (campers
at the Y swim several times a week); partial or full-day
field trips; and special enrichment activities such as
guest entertainers and artists. Enrollment fees include
all field trip fees except for town swim passes that may
be purchased for swimming.
OSA Adventure Camp
This exciting adventure-based program is geared towards
4th-8th graders (must have completed 4th grade). Each
week, the curriculum includes: a bus trip, a special
enrichment guest, at least 2 swims, and team building
activities. The camp is also filled with exciting
adventure-based activities like hiking, climbing,
biking, sailing, and archery.
OSA Adventure Camp is a great alternative to Y's Guys
for the older age child. Staff are trained to work and
program specifically for this age group.
OSA Adventure Camp is offered:
June 23-August 15 in Founders School in Essex
and at Greater Burlington YMCA in Burlington.
The cost is $160 for 5 days, and $120 for 3 days For
more information, you can contact Tricia Pawlik, YMCA
Youth Development Director, at 862-8993 ext. 150 or you
can email her at
tpawlik@gbymca.org.
You can also download an
OSA Adventure Camp registration form here.
One Week Teen Adventure Camp
This special one-week camp is sure to be an adventure
for any 13, 14 or 15 year old. Make new friends, learn
new skills and have fun. Activities may include biking,
pottery, sailing, teambuilding, a scavenger hunt, laser
tag and more. Bring your own snack and lunch.
This year's camp is held June 16-20, 2008 at the
Catamount Family Center in Williston. Sign up early,
because space is limited. The cost for all 5 days is
$165 for the week. For 3 days, the cost is $110 for the
week. This includes the field trip and enrichment fees.
The staff-to-child ratio at Y's Guys is 1:10. Each site
is staffed by a director who is responsible for
developing and implementing the Y's Guys program, and by
support staff who are selected for their education,
enthusiasm and experience working with school-age
children. All administrative functions are handled by
Tricia Pawlik, Youth Development Director.
