Early Education

General Information Community Child Care
The YMCA child care programs offer developmentally based early care and education for children ages 8 weeks to 6 years.  All of our early education programs are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.  Most of these popular child care programs enroll by wait list. To receive enrollment information, please contact the particular center of interest.  Tuition assistance is available on a limited basis for those who qualify.

Our Goals
  • To provide a safe, warm and comfortable environment in which each child can build strong, positive relationships with adults and other children.
  • To develop positive self-concepts by creating an atmosphere geared to successful experiences.
  • To provide opportunities for each child to develop his/her whole body through small and large muscle activities.
  • To promote character development by teaching and demonstrating the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
  • To give each child a stimulating and creative experience that promotes a genuine desire to learn.

Curriculum
Our curriculum is a blend of teacher-directed and individual learning experiences, incorporated within a multisensory hands-on approach. Children learn by using their five senses to explore the world around them while developing an increased ability to think, reason, question and experiment. They learn how to follow directions, and make choices in an environment filled with language and enrichment opportunities. Swim and gym instructions are also a part of the weekly preschool and kindergarten curriculum.
